@QueenOfQuirky: Alright! Dress is paid in full. And it is stilll perfect. Now for broach.
@QueenOfQuirky: W00t! got my broach at a retro dress shop in KC (Donna's Dress Shop)...
http://twitpic.com/pklsh - Love my vintage broach for my wedding dress.
I hate doodads. You know, extra little decorations to gowns that (in my humble opinion) end up looking like cheap add-ons. So, when I first picked out my dress, I knew I would need to do something with the relatively sizable doodad decoration under the bust. Someone suggested finding an antique broach. I thought that was a mighty fine idea.
Not only would it add character to the dress, it could be my "something old." Plus, maybe I could use the broach again.
A few weeks ago on my day off, I stopped into a Donna's Dress Shop, a local vintage dress store. During that visit, I fell in love with a round cubic zirconium vintage broach. But I wasn't sure if it would look right. It had been a long time since I'd seen my dress and I just didn't feel comfortable making a decision then. Was it too much? Too big? Too sparkly? The wrong shape? Donna invited me to a cocktail party at her store where she said she would have a larger collection of vintage jewelry.
I marked my calendar for this past Saturday. I decided that I would also go make the final payment on my dress. (Layaway is a wonderful thing for those of us on a budget. Even though my dress only cost $200, it still helped to pay for it in three installments.) When I got to the bridal store, I asked to see it.
Truth be told, I was a little bit afraid that I wouldn't like it as much as I remembered. It had been soooo long and I've seen so many beautiful dresses since then.

The girl returned to the counter with my dress and unzipped the case.
I gasped. It was still so perfect.
I snapped a few pictures of the dress to take with me to the cocktail party.
When I arrived at the party, I went straight for the jewelry case. Donna was busy helping some other patrons, so I just thought I'd look for that broach I liked.
But I couldn't find it.
Oh no! Maybe someone else bought it.
Once Donna was freed up, she showed me some of the pieces special to the party. While they were all so beautiful, they were much larger than I remembered the first one to be, and they carried price tags to match their size (and probably value).
I asked her if she remembered the one I originally liked. After a few wrong tries, she reached in and pulled out the one.
And it was the one.

I held up the picture of my dress and showed her where it would go. She agreed, it was a perfect fit. I purchased it (with a $5 credit off for dressing up for the party!) and checked off yet another item off my to-do list.
What little detail will you add to your wedding day attire to make it special? What is your something old?
